I hate to see the end of hockey season on the horizon, but I am so in love with the Jays that I may not miss it at all. I didn’t know if I could get it up for them without Overbizzle flashing it up at first, but screw that (though I’ve already picked my section for watching the Pirates when they come to Houston).

I mean, between Snidey and his food obsession and Cecil with his hockey obsession, what’s not to love?

So I just ordered MLB.tv for the season. My laptop is happy. I’m happy. We will watch baseball together and it will be a nice summer. 

Also, I learned how to score a baseball game this weekend. I scored two games Saturday at the Houston College Classic down at Minute Maid Park. 

I went through my usual “learning a new thing” curve of thinking it’s a terribly stupid waste of time, to starting to have fun with it, to then realizing that while I get it for some people, it’s just not my bag.

I don’t watch sports of any kind with an eye toward stats. I watch sports by feel. I like to ride the waves, big and small, and go where the game takes me. I can’t do that if I’m worried about who caught it and threw to whom, how to write down this weird situation that just happened, etc etc. 

Someone in the building is already doing it. They don’t need me doing it and I don’t need me doing it to enjoy the game, so why would I?

So there ya go. I felt like it was something I needed to learn (did you know the positions have correlating numbers? This was huge news to me.) and I did it and now I’m done. 

I don’t keep stats myself in hockey either. I pull up the score sheet online and click refresh. I just kinda accept about myself that the numbers are not how I approach the game, which has been hard to do since men seem to be very numbers oriented. But I’m all “feel” at a game. I watch sports right from my gut and heart. Stats are too pointy and jagged to go in there. 

Fuck the Red Sox. Fuck the Yankees. Go Jays!
