I’m really sad that he might not be a Blue Jay any more after this season. Not tears-sad but sad anyway. I really like that man and I’m afraid they’re going to put some cheap, unlikeable monkey at first base and things will never be the same.
That is to say, I don’t quite trust the Blue Jays with my fragile baseball heart. I’m plenty jaded about hockey and I’m okay with that. I love it so much, I can handle lots of cynicism. But baseball is my “innocent” sport and I like it that way. I don’t ask too much of it, and I need it to not ask much of me. If you’re gonna take Overbay away, don’t fuck it up.
